JAC Chandigarh Counselling Fee Refund Policy
The refund policy for JAC Chandigarh counselling is governed by the Joint Admission Committee (JAC-2024) and the rules of the respective allotted institutes (like Panjab University, CCET, etc.). The policy varies based on the counselling round and the stage at which a candidate withdraws or surrenders their seat.
The counselling fee - Rs. 2,800 for General category candidates and Rs. 1,400 for SC/ST/PwD candidates - is strictly non-refundable under any circumstance. This amount is treated as a registration-cum-counselling fee and is not considered for refund, even if a candidate later decides not to take admission.
For candidates who are provisionally admitted after paying the seat acceptance fee of Rs. 40,000 and wish to withdraw before the Spot Round, the refund process must be initiated through the admission portal as per the schedule published on the official JAC website. The withdrawal request must be done online using the candidate’s login credentials, and an OTP verification is required to complete the process. Candidates also need to provide accurate bank details in capital letters to facilitate the refund. Withdrawal requests sent through email or phone are not accepted under any condition.
If a candidate withdraws before the Spot Round or is not allotted any seat in the Spot Round, the entire seat acceptance fee of Rs. 40,000 will be refunded by JAC Chandigarh. However, if a candidate withdraws after the Spot Round, the refund will be handled by the respective allotted institute, as per that institute’s own refund rules, outlined in Chapters 5 and 6 of the information bulletin. These institute-specific rules take effect from the day the admission process concludes.
For students who paid the seat acceptance fee but did not physically report to the allotted institute and withdrew before the Spot Round, the entire amount (excluding counselling fee) will be refunded by JAC Chandigarh. However, once a candidate participates in the final or Spot Round of counselling, the refund eligibility shifts to the rules governed by the institutes, particularly Panjab University in many cases.
If a student withdraws after final counselling, the refund will be issued according to the AICTE Academic Calendar 2024–25. If the withdrawal occurs after the dates notified in the AICTE calendar, then the refund will be processed strictly as per the college or institute’s internal refund policies. In such cases, the refundable deposits, if any, will still be returned upon withdrawal.
