- No Choices = No Allotment: Candidates must fill choices to be considered for seat allotment. Not filling any choice leads to no allotment.
- Prioritization & Upgradation: Candidates must arrange their selected choices in order of preference and can opt for upgradation after accepting a seat.
West Bengal JEE Counselling Seat Allotment
In West Bengal JEE Counselling 2025, seat allotment will happen in multiple rounds based on the candidate’s rank, choices filled and eligibility. Round 1 allotment will be released on a fixed date and candidates can check their allotted institute and course by logging in. To confirm the seat a refundable seat acceptance fee of Rs. 5,000 has to be paid online. After downloading the allotment letter candidates have to report physically to the allotted institute for document verification. Failing to pay the fee or report for verification will result in cancellation of allotment and disqualification from further rounds including upgradation round.
In Round 2 allotment may vary-candidates may get upgraded seat (first or later choices), retain their previous allotment or get fresh allotment. Based on the situation candidates have to report and complete admission formalities to retain the seat otherwise they may be debarred from further rounds or may be eligible for Mop-Up round. All candidates must go through document verification again.
If found ineligible, the allotment will be cancelled, though such candidates can still participate in the Mop-Up round. Successful admission to a first-choice seat bars further participation in counselling. Hence, it is crucial for candidates to carefully follow payment and reporting deadlines to secure their seats and avoid disqualification.

West Bengal JEE 2025 reserves 15% of AICTE-approved intake (excluding supernumerary seats) for Out of West Bengal candidates in private engineering colleges, autonomous government institutions, and government universities. West Bengal JEE Counselling Fee Refund Policy
West Bengal JEE Counselling non-refundable registration fee is Rs. 500, applicable for B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch courses. However, the institutional fee refund is governed by AICTE norms. If a student withdraws before the course begins, the full fee – excluding a maximum processing charge of Rs. 1000 must be refunded. If the student leaves after joining and the seat is filled by another candidate before the last admission date, a refund is provided after deducting the processing fee and proportionate charges such as monthly tuition and hostel rent.
If the vacated seat remains unfilled, only the security deposit must be refunded, and original documents returned. Institutions are also prohibited from charging fees for subsequent years from students who cancel their admission. The entire refund process, along with the return of certificates, must be completed within 7 days. Non-compliance with these guidelines may invite punitive action from AICTE.
