Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authorized body that comes under the Central Government of India for taking admission in B. Tech/B.E. courses IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTI (Government Funded Technical Institutes) based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks. JoSAA is a regulatory body that comes under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD). JoSAA provides a pathway that leads to the door of the engineering institutes of India, as earlier many of the seats go vacant so the government form a body to regulate the seat allocation process faster, effective, efficient and time saving. There are around more than 100 institutes which offers seat allocation through JoSAA. The candidates who have qualified the JEE Main or JEE advanced are eligible for the participation in the admission process through JoSAA for various renowned colleges of engineering.
JoSAA is responsible for the seat allocation in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 GTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes). The process of JoSAA registration is likely to begin from the month of August. In India there are 12 states in which the colleges accepts JEE Main score, the list of states are: Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal. Most of these states have scrapped their state level entrance examination for admission in engineering courses in the colleges of their respective states and had started giving seats via JEE Main score. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authorized body that comes under the Central Government of India for taking admission in B. Tech courses IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks. JoSAA Counselling is generally consists of 6 – 7 rounds as per the availability of seats. The whole counselling process engrossed with registration, filling of choices, locking of choices followed by the validation and allotment of seats must be done by JoSSA Counselling Expert. In order to enter and understand the JoSSA, the JoSSA counselling by expert is required.

It is obligatory for the candidates to register themselves through the official JoSAA online portal so that they would be able to analyse the availability of seats in any of the IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts) and Other-GFTIs. The
Official announcement of the Academic programs, along with the category-wise intake capacity, will be made on the online portal https://JoSAA.nic.in .
While choosing the preferable program for themselves the candidates have a lot of choices in terms of academic programs and colleges. So at the time of seat allocation there is an option for combination for academic program and institute. A seat to the maximum probable choice of academic program is allocated to the candidate considering the following factors:
- The category [GEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GENEWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, ST-PwD] of the candidate.
- The position of the candidate in respective rank list(s) of JEE main or JEE Advanced.
- The preferential order of the academic program or college selected by the candidate.
- The availability of seats in different seat categories / seat quotas for which the candidate is eligible.
JoSAA 2022 Entities
There are two different entities who conducts JEE mains and JEE Advanced.
The apex body responsible for conducting JEE advanced 2022 is JAB (Joint Admission Board) which also formulates the rules or policies for the seat allotment process at IITs.
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2022 is responsible for JEE mains and framing policies in the process of seat allocation at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs. CSAB also frame the policies for filling the vacant seats it also includes CSAB supernumerary counselling and CSAB NEUT counselling.
