Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) in Salem is a national-level handloom technology institute. It was founded in 1960 by the Ministry of Textiles of the Government of India with the goal of providing education and training in the field of handloom technology, as well as promoting research and development in this field.  The College is affiliated with the Anna University, Chennai and also has approval from the All India Council for Technical Educations (AICTE)

The institute is located on a lush green campus of around 40 acres known as Foulke’s compound. Foulke’s compound has a 218-year history, dating from the days of British Imperialism’s Commercial Residency until the present.

Counselling Process

Counselling Registrations

Step 1: Create an Account

  • Click on the “Registration” link

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

Log in to the TNEA website using your username and password

  • Upload copies of your 10th and 12th mark sheets, along with any other relevant certificates
  • Review your application carefully before submitting it

Step 3: Pay the Registration Fee

  • Make the payment of Rs. 500 for General category or Rs. 250 for SC/SCA/ST category belonging to Tamil Nadu
  • Save the payment confirmation receipt for future reference

Step 4: Submit the Application

Counselling Process 

Step 1: Check Eligibility

  • Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for TNEA 2023.

Step 2: Registration

  • Create an account and fill up the registration form with the required details.
  • Upload the necessary certificates and make the registration fee payment.

Step 3: Merit List Preparation

  • The TNEA authorities will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained in the relevant subjects.
  • The overall rank and community rank will be published on the official TNEA website.

Step 4: Counselling Rounds

  • There will be four rounds of counselling for TNEA 2023.
  • Each round will have four stages: choice filling, allotment, confirmation of allotment, and reporting to college/TFC.
  • Candidates will participate in each round based on their rank.

Step 5: Choice Filling

  • During choice filling, candidates will list their preferred colleges and branches in order of preference.
  • The order of choices is important as it determines the allotment process.
  • Candidates can fill any number of choices within the available options.

Step 6: Allotment

  • Allotments will be based on the order of choices, rank, and available seat matrix.
  • Candidates will receive provisional allotment orders if they are allotted a seat.

Step 7: Confirmation of Allotment

Candidates can choose from various confirmation options after receiving their allotment:

  • Accept and Join: Satisfied candidates can download the allotment order and report to the allotted college for admission.
  • Accept and Upward: Satisfied candidates can wait for allotment in their preferred choices in the upward movement.
  • Decline and Upward: Dissatisfied candidates can decline the allotment and wait for upward movement.
  • Decline and Move to Next Round: Dissatisfied candidates can decline the allotment and participate in the next round.
  • Decline and Quit: Dissatisfied candidates can decline the allotment and withdraw from further counselling.
  • Upward or Move to Next Round: Candidates with no allotment can opt for upward movement or the next round.

Step 8: Reporting and Fees Payment

  • Candidates who have accepted their allotment must report to the allotted college/TFC within the specified time frame.
  • Candidates must pay the necessary fees, except those exempted due to reservation or scholarships.
  • Failure to report or pay fees will result in cancellation of the allotment.

Step 9: Upward Movement

  • Upward movement allows candidates to retain their allotted seat while waiting for better choices.
  • Seats vacated by non-reporting candidates will be pooled for upward movement.

Step 10: Subsequent Rounds

  • Candidates who decline their allotment or are not allotted a seat will move to the next round.
  • The counselling process will continue until all seats are filled.
