Prior to the founding of the University, colleges in the area were affiliated with Agra University. The Radha Krishnan Commission proposed in 1949 the building of a university in Kanpur to relieve pressure on Agra University. To meet this need, the state government founded Kanpur University in 1966 under the Kanpur and Meerut Universities Act 1965, with the motto “Aroh Tamso Jyoti” (Rise from darkness to light). According to the preamble, Kanpur University would begin as an affiliating university but will progressively transform into a residential university. Step 1: Online Registration and Document Upload:
