JoSAA administers the JEE Main Counselling for entrance into 31 NITs, 23 IITs, 26 IIITs, and 33 GFTIs across India. The counselling process unfolds in 6 rounds, typically spanning a duration of 40-50 days for its completion. Importantly, in the event that seats remain unfilled after the sixth round, the remaining vacancies are addressed through CSAB counselling, overseen by the Central Seat Allocation Board. It is anticipated that CSAB Counselling 2024 will be conducted in July 2024.

JEE Main 2024 Counselling Procedure
Step 1: JEE Main Counselling Registration:
- Log in to the JoSAA candidate portal using the JEE Main 2024 application form number and password.
- Verify the automatically fetched details from the JEE Main 2024 database.
- Pay the required JEE Main counselling fee.
Step 2: Choice Filling:
- After registration, candidates must fill in their preferred choices of institutes and courses.
- It is advisable to select a wide range of choices to enhance the chances of successful admission.
Step 3: Mock Seat Allotment and Locking of Choices:
- JoSAA conducts two rounds of mock seat allotment to familiarize candidates with the process.
- Candidates can modify their preferences based on the mock allotment results.
Step 4: Final Seat Allotment:
- JoSAA will conduct six rounds of seat allotment based on merit, category, preferences, and seat availability.
- The results will be published online, including the provisional seat allotment letter and an e-challan for seat acceptance fee payment.
Step 5: Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee:
- Candidates with allotted seats need to pay the seat acceptance fee through e-challan or SBI net banking.
- The fee amount varies based on the candidate’s category.
Step 6: Reporting to Allotted Institute:
- After accepting the seat and paying the acceptance fee, candidates must report to the allotted institute for document verification.
